Justin Leveritt

I met Justin Leveritt standing in line outside the David Zwirner Gallery, waiting for William Eggleston to sign copies of Selected Works from the Democratic Forest, in biting West Side Highway wind. Meeting Justin and his friend made the wait bearable — fun, even. After we got our signed copies, we walked together when a monarch butterfly appeared out of nowhere, landing on our outstretched hands in turn. That was ten years ago.

Justin's career as a fashion photographer has taken off since. He shoots editorially for D la Repubblica, Alei Journal, and T Magazine — the images featured here are from a recent shoot for the former, and the rotating image sequence is a signature Justin move. Smart campaigns for Helmut Lang and Paloma Wool confirm he's in it for the long game.
