Sarah van Rij

Sarah van Rij Editorial for Vogue Italia in Focus on Mission Projects

Sarah van Rij knows how to bring the drama! She layers and plays with reflections and silhouettes with agility and grace. She does equally well with vibrant colors and black-and-white, creating thrilling, gorgeous compositions. Among Sarah’s recurring themes are shoes, hands, reflections, telephones and self-portraits — ever new, never boring. She builds upon Saul Leiter’s legacy in her explorations of urban life, but she does so in her own artistic voice.

Sarah often collaborates with her partner, David van der Leeuw.

She has photographed for The New York Times, ZEIT Magazine, i-D Magazine and some of her commercial clients include Louis Vuitton, Rimova, Chanel, and Rapha.

In December, her first museum solo show launches in Paris at the MEP.
