Daniel Arnold
Unlike Meyerowitz and Powell, Daniel Arnold grew up in Milwaukee. He moved to New York in his early twenties, and soon found his spot in the long lineage of extraordinary New York street photographers. Where Meyerowitz and Powell bring formal elegance to the quotidian, Arnold finds absurdist theater. He famously walks big distances, always on the lookout for the strange things people do and what's unfolding. He and Meyerowitz share the same birthday — a fitting cosmic coincidence.
Looking at his photography, one often wonders, what the hell is going on? He's masterful at capturing the follies of everyday life in New York – often in Midtown, dreaded by many, but loved by Arnold.
Photography critic Vince Aletti recently wrote about the "ragged edge of comic mayhem" running through Arnold pictures. Indeed: his photographs hinge on a split-second recognition of the strange, funny, or improbable moment before it disappears.
He has 393k Instagram followers, and brands and magazines love him, too: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Prada, Nike. His recent TV portfolio for W is pure Daniel Arnold magic.
In 2025, he publishedYou Are What You Dowith Loose Joints. His work is included in ICP's current group showHard Copy New York.
